WASKEY, ANGELA K.
On June 8, 2019, long-time Dundalk resident, Angela Waskey, aged 104, passed away after a long battle with dementia at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Terence and Wendy Waskey. Angela was born on August 4, 1914 in Baltimore, MD to Polish Immigrants, Julian and Paulina Kownacki. She survived both parents, her sister, Mary Ann Kownacki, and her husband of 52 years, Andrew Waskey , and her beloved eldest son, Marion Waskey. She is survived by her beloved second son, Terry and his wife, Wendy of Centreville, MD.
Angela attended the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, where she was trained to be a seamstress/tailor. She was well known as an avid gardener, Polka dancer and bowler (bowling up until the age of 94). She is perhaps better known for her contributions to the community she loved (Dundalk) and to her parish church (St. Rita's). Charles Taylor in his February 3, 2005 Dundalk Eagle column (Changing Times) identified Angela Waskey as one of Dundalk's "super neighbors". Many would agree. She was a super neighbor, a super friend, and a much beloved super mom.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions in her memory to Compass Regional Hospice of Centreville, Maryland, St. Rita's Catholic Church, the Alzheimer's Association and, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
