Betty Ann Jerome died at the age of 78 on April 9, 2021, after battling stage 4 lung cancer for 18 months. She was a beautiful, kind, loving, caring, sweet person, with a great sense of humor. She choose to fight her cancer and did so better than the doctors thought she could, which came as no surprise to those that knew her. She died in peace, comfort and love.
She was born Jan 28, 1943, in Baltimore Maryland to Salvatore (Sammie) and Louise Gerard. Her father Sammie was a decorated Army Veteran who served honorably in World War 2. Betty met and married Ronald Jerome in 1962 with whom she was married for 35 years until Ron’s death in 1997. Betty and Ron moved to Joppatowne Maryland, where she was a homemaker and went on to live in Europe for a period of time, as well as having homes in Berkeley Sprigs West Virginia, Ocean City Maryland and Owing Mills Maryland. She spent her final years at the beautiful Sunrise of Carroll Senior Living Community.
She was an active member of the Catholic Church, and devoted much of her time and energy in service to her community and God. Her interests included healthy living, family, gardening, reading and staying current on world events. As an Italian Mom, she loved family meals, a little wine, and sharing stories that were more entertaining each time she told them and more detailed with each additional glass of wine.
Mrs. Betty Jerome is predeceased by her husband Ronald to whom she was a loving wife and caregiver. She is survived by her son Victor and his wife Luz (Caceda), son Michael and his wife Tracy, daughter Deborah and her husband Rob Wilson. “Nana” had 5 grandchildren to include Melissa, Samuel and Melanie Jerome and Andrew and Alisen Ziemski, and 3 great grandchildren including Gavin, Everly and Airabella. Additionally she is survived by her brothers Eugene and Larry and their immediate families. She was preceded in death by her brother James Gerard.
A memorial service will be held from 1000-1200 on Saturday, May 1st at Bradley-Ashton-Kehl Funeral Home, P.A. 2134 Willow Spring Road, Dundalk, Maryland 21222. Her burial place will be next to Ron and other family members at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, 7401 German Hill Rd, Dundalk, MD 21222 (section #7, lot # 469, grave #2)
