In Loving Memory of Flora Karais
February 10, 1938 – November 2, 2025
Flora Karais, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 87, in her home in Baltimore, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Archangelos, Rhodes, Greece, Flora immigrated to America in 1966 with her family to begin a new chapter while preserving the traditions of her homeland. A talented seamstress and devoted mother, she raised three children with unwavering love and dedication. Flora was a cherished member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society, where she did charitable work. Her pride in her Rhodian heritage was evident in her involvement with the Rhodian Society of Maryland.
She is survived by her husband, Kostantinos Karais; children Maritsa and John Angelou, Stella and Tsambiko Giakoumakis, Tony and Jen Karais; grandchildren George, Flora, Kostantinos, Demitri, and Evangelos; siblings Anthitsa, Efi, Antonia, Koula, and Nick; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Flora will be remembered for her love, resilience, generosity, hard work and unforgettable smile, which touched all who knew her. The family will receive guests on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 520 South Ponca Street, Baltimore, MD 21224, where a funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
