Gerard Bailer Obituary

BAILER, GERARD M.

With great sadness, family announces that On Thursday August 5th, 2021, Gerard “Jerry” M. Bailer passed away unexpectedly in his home at the age of 63. Jerry was born on October 13, 1957 in Baltimore, MD to Herman and Luella (Oechsler) Bailer. He graduated from Patterson High School and went on to earn his certification in transmission repair from Lincoln Technical Institute. Jerry continued to work in automotive and industrial fields until the early 2000s when he found his true calling, Security. He finished his career working as a Special Police Officer.

Though Jerry was a mechanical wizard and a dedicated Officer, his true passion was his music. He played his guitar almost every day for over 50 years and no one who heard him play could deny his talent. When asked why he never did anything further with his talent he said, “Because I play for me and you, and anyone else in earshot of here and that’s enough for me”. That’s just who he was.

Jerry was preceded in death by both parents, Herman and Luella, brothers Wayne Bailer and Charles Bailer, sister Delores Rawlings and his longstanding fiancée Rhonda Thornton. He is survived by his daughter, Erin Bailer-Clark; Stepchildren Christina Clark, Marc Kiriou, Tony Clark, Stacie Clark and Amanda Haslbeck, Sister Rita Fitzpatrick, Brothers Herman Bailer Jr., Tony Bailer, and Albert Bailer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
