Mary Gloria Knapp Tilghman (nee Fink), age 93, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2021, at Oak Crest in Parkville. Born December 24, 1927, in Baltimore, the daughter of G. Raymond and M. Blanche Fink. She was a 1950 graduate of Notre Dame College. She married Ensign Walter C. Knapp, USN, on June 7, 1952, in Baltimore, MD. She subsequently married Philip O. Tilghman on March 27, 1981, in Elkton, MD, who preceded her in death. Gloria truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: spending time with friends and family, laughing, eating, volunteering at Oak Crest, playing cards, bingo and bunko, and spoiling pets. She greatly treasured her family and Catholic faith. Gloria touched people in a deep and positive way. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her children: Stephen C. Knapp, and his wife Mary, of Bel Air; Charles Br. Knapp of W. Milton, OH; and B. Raymond F. Knapp, and his spouse Fr. Dewayne Messenger, of Sand Springs, OK; grandchildren Jennifer Gunter Knapp of Baltimore, MD; Heather Knapp Libonate of Baltimore, MD; Tabatha Amber of Buffalo, NY; Anne Koach Nies of Washougal, WA; Elizabeth Parker Savage of Dayton, OH; Matthew Charles Knapp of Chesapeake, VA; Bryan Christopher Knapp of Baldwin, MD; Abigael Asher Knapp of Tipp City, OH; Michael Edward Knapp of Portland, ME; and Catherine Hope Knapp of Kettering, OH. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren, and many cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Gloria touched are invited to the Oak Crest Village Chapel for a Mass of the Resurrection, 8820 Walther Blvd., Parkville at 12pm September 15, 2021, to grieve, give thanks to God, and reminisce about Gloria's life with us.
