Konstantinos A. Karais
In Loving Memory of Konstantinos Karais
March 20, 1932- January 8, 2026
Konstantinos Karais, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished member of his community, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 93, surrounded by his family.
Born in Archangelos, Rhodes, Greece, Konstantinos immigrated to America in 1966 with his family to begin a new chapter. Trained as an accountant in Greece, he later worked as a carpenter in the United States. Deeply devoted to his faith and heritage, he was an active member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox community, serving on the parish council and as the president of both the Greek School and the Rhodian Society of Maryland “Diagoras” for many years.
Konstantinos had a lifelong passion for soccer and was a dedicated fan of the Greek soccer team Panathinaikos. In his younger years, he played the sport he loved and later continued his involvement by coaching a local team.
He is survived by his children—Maritsa and John Angelou, Stella and Tsambikos Giakoumakis, and Tony and Jen Karais—as well as five adored grandchildren.
Konstantinos will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, humor, wisdom, and love of life. We love you and miss you deeply. You will forever remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
The family will receive guests at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 from 10 am to 11 am, where a funeral service will be held at 11 am. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
