THOMPSON, RUTH ELLEN
On March 2, 2026, Ruth Ellen Thompson, aged 88. She was predeceased by her parents Alice Schroeder Thompson and Maurice Thompson, and her sister Mary Thompson Singletary. She is survived by her loving sister Jane Elise Thompson, beloved nieces Mary Claire Singletary and Jennifer Singletary Neville, and Jenny's children, Christine and Joel Neville and Adelaide Neville Leach. Ruth was employed many years as Executive Secretary at Charles Center/Inner Harbor Management Inc., and successor organization, Baltimore Development Corporation. She was a graduate of Dundalk High School and the Bard Avon Secretarial School. She enjoyed reading, art, classical music, traveling in Europe, where she especially loved Venice.
Ruth was ever polite, generous and kind, including to animals, particularly many rescued cats. Her remains will be interred at a family plot in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, her birthplace. The family is grateful for the kindness of the caregivers at Symphony Manor of Roland Park where Ruth spent her last years, always longing for her Dundalk home.
The family will receive guests for a memorial gathering at the funeral home on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m., where a service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Maryland SPCA or an animal welfare organization of one's choice.
