Toulista Serdenes, age 94, passed peacefully on April 21, 2026. Born April 16, 1932, in Malona, Rhodos, Greece, to George and Haristoula Georgas, she endured the hardships of World War II, which shaped her strength, patience, and deep faith in God. After training as a nurse under her uncle, Dr. Nicolas Georgas, she married Emanuele Konstantinou and emigrated to America aboard the Queen Mary, settling in Detroit and raising two sons, John and George. Following Emanuele’s passing, she moved to Baltimore, where she later married Theodoros “Onasis” Serdenes. Together they raised four sons—John, George, Christos, and Tony—and shared 65 years of marriage until Theodoros’s passing in 2021.
Toulista’s life was defined by devotion to God, family, and service to others. Despite limited formal education due to World War II, she earned a “Doctorate in Life” through her wisdom, compassion, and resilience. She was admired for her generosity, faith, and strength, always offering help without hesitation. She is survived by her sister Maria Kalambihis of Baltimore; brother Andoni Georgas of Greece; sons Christos T. Serdenes of Baltimore, Tony Serdenes and wife Kelly of Bel Air, and John Konstantinou and wife Charlotte of Belcamp; grandson Ryan Serdenes of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews. Toulista was predeceased by her husband Theodoros, her son George, her brother Savas Georgas and wife Maria, her sister Sevasti and husband Paul Diros, and her brother-in-law Alex Kalambihis.
Toulista’s son Christos would like to thank the following people for the love and companionship they consistently provided—preparing homemade meals, cleaning her home, running errands, and taking her to doctor’s appointments, as well as to hair and nail salon visits, and so much more: Thea Maria; George and Stacy Kalambihis; Harry Cook; Susan Sassaman; Janet Singh; Mary Antonas; George Georgas; Kiki Venetis; and Jim Kraft. A special thank you to Stamatia Ieromonahos, who went above and beyond to shower Toulista with love, compassion, and empathy, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and the entire Greek community for their help. May God rest her soul and may her memory be eternal.
The family will receive guests on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 10:30 to 11 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 520 South Ponca Street, Baltimore, MD 21224, where a funeral service will be celebrated at 11 am. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
